Small businesses produce 55.8% of GDP in 2013

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In January-December 2013, small business entities of Uzbekistan produced 55.8% of the total volume of GDP which is 1.2 percentage points more than in 2012.
The share of small enterprises and microfirms in GDP production was 34.6% in January-December 2013 versus 33.9% in January-December 2012.
In January-December 2013, small business entities provided employment to 9.52 million persons (76% of total persons employed in the economy), including 7.218 million persons of the individual sector and 2.301 million persons of small enterprises and microfirms.
The number of persons engaged in the private sector of small business was 8.775 million or 92.2% of total employment in the sphere of small business.
The sector produced industrial output worth 15.182 trillion soums (24.8% of total industrial production), which rose by 14.6% year-on-year.
Small businesses utilized 9.22 trillion soums of investments (33.5% of total utilized investments). The growth rate made up 2.6% year-on-year.
The sector executed construction works for 10.848 trillion soums (71/9% of total construction works), which grew by 16.2% compared to 2012.
They ensured the growth of freight turnover of motor transport by 7.1% (82.1% of total freight turnover) and passenger turnover by 7.1% (88.1% of total passenger turnover).
The small business entities formed 46.3% (21.988 trillion soums) of total retail trade turnover (the growth by 16.5%) and 46.7% (8.544 trillion soums) of total paid services (the growth by 5.8%).
The sector exported products (goods and services) for US$2.709 billion (18% of total exports) and imported products (goods and services) for US$5.599 billion (40.6% of total imports).
