Knauf plans to invest US$50m to Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Knauf International GmbH (Germany) is planning to invest US$45-50 million to expand its production capacities in Uzbekistan, senior manager of Uzstroymaterialy Akbar Muhiddinov said on Friday.
He said that the delegation of Knauf will pay visit to Uzbekistan this week and will discuss proposal of German company on new investments for US$45-50 million with the Government of Uzbekistan. Akbar Muhiddinov said the planned investments will allow Knauf, at least, to double its production capacities in Uzbekistan.
Knauf has got two enterprises in Bukhara Region, Uzbekistan, one of them is "Bukharagips" which produces high-quality dry gypsum-based mixes, and FE "Knauf Gips Bukhara" which produces Knauf- plasterboards by European standards.
The first enterprise started to produce gypsum-based mixes in August 2009. The capacity of the plant is 60,000 tonnes of products a year.
In 2011, Knauf constructed a plant on production for Knauf-boards at KNAUF GIPS Bukhara. The design production capacity of the enterprise amounted to 20 million square meters of high-quality gypsum plasterboards a year.
The volume of investments of the Knauf Group into creation of modern production facilities in Bukhara Region has amounted to more than US$51 million.
