Russian Petromaruz to expand oil refinery in Uzbekistan in 2014

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Russia’s Petromaruz will start to implement a project on expansion of heavy oil refinery in Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan in the first quarter of 2014, a source in Jarkurganneftepererabotka said.
The source said that the joint venture Jarkurganneftepererabotka will re-announce a tender on purchase of necessary equipment till the end of 2013 and solve issues related to financing of the project. It added that the venture will start project implementation in spring 2014.
Energo-news.ru reported that the project cost is US$42.3 million and it envisages expansion of production of petroleum, diesel and stove fuel, as well as oil bitumen by twice in average due to increasing raw base of the enterprise and its capacities by 2016. The project will be implemented within three years.
The venture announced a tender on purchase of equipment for processing of heavy oil at licensed field with the starting price of US$39 million. But the tender was note held.
Jarkurganneftepererabotka was founded in 2013. Petromaruz holds 55% stake in the venture and Jarkurganneft – 45%. In September 2013, it launched the plant on processing heavy oil. The capacity of the plant allows to process 130,000 tonneso of heavy oil and produce 60,000 tonnes of oil bitumen, 50,000 tonnes of diesel fuel and other products a year.
