Vienna hosts conference on Uzbek-Austrian ties

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A conference dedicated to current state and perspectives of the Uzbek-Austrial cooperation was held in Vienna, Jahon news agency reported.
Representatives of parliament, state bodies, public-political and business circles, academic circles and others participated at the conference.
The participants familiarized with achievements of Uzbekistan, preferences for foreign investors at Navoi free industrial and economic zone, Angren special industrial zone and Jizzakh special industrial zone.
It was noted that exports of Austria to Uzbekistan exceeded US$83million last year. Currently, over 20 companies opened their offices in Uzbekistan. It was underlined that there are untapped potential in oil and gas, chemistry and food industry, logistics and transport, information technologies.
Austria has great experience in tourism sector and Uzbek specialists could raise their knowledge in Austria in this direction.
Director-general on international affairs of the Federal Ministry of Economy, Family and Youth of Austria Franz Wessig said that economic cooperation between two nations is developing in last several years.
He said that he is co-chair of the Austrian-Uzbek joint economic commission and added that the commission will hold a meeting in Vienna in October 2013. He said that the sides are preparing to the event, which can improve mutual beneficial partnership.
