Uzbekistan repairs 950 km roads in Jan-May

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan carried out current repair and maintenance works for 160 billion soums and about 950 km roads in five months of 2013, the press service of Uzavtoyol said.
It said that repair works were conducted at M-39 road, which passes through Ferghana, Dangarin, Uzbekistan districts of Ferghana region, Bakhmal and Gallaral district of Jizzakh region, and general automobile roads in Bukhara regions and others.
It is worth to mention that Uzavtoyol launched two new objects in the reporting period. In particular, the road, which links regions of Ferghana Valley via short and comfortable roads, was launched. The road bypassing Qoqand with extension of 54 km was also commissioned. Some 8-km part of road bypassing Sergeli district in Tashkent was also launched.
The project on construction of road in Qoqand will allow vehicles not to enter the city and improve the environment in the city. Vehicles, moving in route Tashkent-Andijan, will be able to reach their destination in high speed and save their time and fuel.
In 2013, as Uzbek President Islam Karimov stated, it is planned to construct and reconstruct 526 km of roads, which will meet international standards. It is also planned to complete reconstruction of road through Kamchiq pass with the length of 71 km and construct several roads and overpasses.
Uzavtoyol in cooperation with corresponding ministries and departments, local administrations are adopting measures on construction, reconstruction and repair of automobile roads and development of infrastructure.
Within implementation of 2011-2015 investment programme, enterprises of Uzavtoyol fully reconstructed 59 km roads into four-lane roads, which are part of Uzbekistan highway, in past period of 2013. In particular, 21 km road of A-380 highway “Guzar-Bukhara-Nukus-Beinau” was reconstructed. The road builders also completed reconstruction works of A-378 highway and 6 km part of Kamchiq pass.
Over 21 km roads, part of Uzbekistan national highway, were also repaired. Some 18 km of them are roads of international and state importance and 3 km – roads of local importance. The company said that Uzbekistan issued 300 billion soums to reconstruct and construct roads in 2012 and about 2,100 km roads will be repaired.
In 2013, Uzbekistan allocated about 350 billion soums to ensure safety of roads and eliminate road defects.
