Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Poland exceeds US$151m in 2012

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan is a key economic partner of Poland in Central Asia, the press release of Department on assisting trade and investments of the Embassy of Poland in Uzbekistan said.
The release said that mutual trade turnover between two nations exceeded US$151 million in 2012, which dropped by 4.6% year-on-year.
At the same time, the export volume of Poland to Uzbekistan grew by 4.8% year-on-year in 2012 and exceeded US$119.8 million. Imports from Uzbekistan fell almost one third to US$31.3 million.
Poland mainly exports machines and equipment to Uzbekistan, which made up 35% of total exports. Agriculture and food products account 36% of Polish exports to Uzbekistan, the release said.
Department on assisting trade and investments of the Embassy of Poland in Uzbekistan noted that Poland also increases export of plants to Uzbekistan, including fruit trees. Over 18% of Polish exports to Uzbekistan fell to share of chemical products, 12.5% - vehicles and spare parts. The country is increasing exports of medical products to Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan decreased exports of chemical products to Poland by over twice in 2012, cotton yarn and textile products – by one fourth and mineral products – by 15%.
At the same time, Uzbekistan increased exports of elements of metering equipment to Poland, plant products, ready foods and others. About 47% of Uzbekistan exports to Poland make up mineral products, 21%- chemical goods and 20% - yarn and cotton products.
This data shows that Uzbekistan and Poland have great potential for further increasing mutual trade.
