Uzbekistan to construct wind power facilities fleet

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekenergo state joint stock company is developing a project on construction of fleet of wind power facilities with the capacity of 100 megawatt, head of the press service of the company Jasur Nurdinov said.
Pravda Vostoka newspaper reported quoting Nurdinov that the project will save up to 68 million cubic meters of natural gas a year.
Jasur Nurdinov said it is expected that implementation of the project will start in 2016.
He said that launch of experimental wind power facility with the capacity of 0.75 megawatt in Bostanlik district of Tashkent region, which is the first such facility in Central Asia, is one of the most perspective projects in recent years.
He said that researches in Samarkan, Kashkadarya, Khorezm and other regions were held before launch of the project. The results show that wind power energy has great potential in Uzbekistan, he said.
Jasur Nurdinov added that farms also successfully use bio gas facilities of various capacities and their number will grow in near future.
He added that Uzbekenergo is planning to construct bio gas facilities in Namangan region and Ferghana city. Ten solar collectors and power stations with the capacity of 24 kilowatt will be launched in Khorezm region.
