Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A new pilot project has been launched in Tashkent to introduce electric bicycles specifically designed by Yandex Uzbekistan for courier delivery services.

The new vehicles aim to enhance the comfort, safety, and efficiency of couriers working with the Yandex Go delivery platform.

Developed with urban logistics and courier-specific tasks in mind, the e-bikes are made available for rent to registered Yandex Go couriers operating in the capital of Uzbekistan.

Each e-bike is equipped with a built-in charging module for mobile devices, an ergonomic seat designed to reduce strain during long shifts, and a luggage rack with an adjustable strap system for courier bags. Wide fenders above the wheels provide added protection from water and dirt — a critical feature in Tashkent’s variable weather.

Special attention was given to safety. The bikes feature a smart speed control system that automatically limits speed depending on the designated zone of operation. The battery meets all safety standards, with built-in protection against overheating and spontaneous combustion, along with continuous status monitoring.

The e-bikes are designed for year-round use. Waterproof electronics and sealed braking systems make them suitable for operation in all weather conditions, including rain and snow. If the battery runs out, it can be quickly replaced without interrupting work.

Currently, 100 of these new e-bikes are available across Tashkent. Yandex Uzbekistan plans to increase this number to 500 by the end of summer, helping to further develop a clean, modern delivery infrastructure in the capital.

Yandex’s e-bike initiative represents a forward-looking step not only in improving courier services but also in building a sustainable urban environment—where eco-friendliness, smart technologies, and convenience become an integral part of everyday life.
