Yandex Go Driver Delivers Baby in His Car in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — An unusual and touching incident occurred in Tashkent on 21 October when a Yandex Go driver delivered a baby directly in his car.

By fortunate coincidence, the man turned out to be a practicing pulmonologist who had started working part-time as a taxi driver this summer. Thanks to his professional skills and quick response, a baby girl was safely born, and both mother and child remained unharmed.

On the day of the incident, the driver received his first and only ride around 11:30 a.m. from the Bektemir district.

In the car were a passenger in the late stages of pregnancy, her mother-in-law, and a small child. The woman was heading to the 5th City Maternity Hospital, but labor pains began on the way, and they could not reach the hospital in time.

“Just a couple of kilometers into the trip, I realized that the baby was coming. I immediately pulled over and did what I could. My medical skills proved crucial at that moment,” the driver said.

Together with the passenger’s mother-in-law, he successfully delivered the baby girl in the car. The newborn cried and began breathing on her own.

Mother and child were then taken to the nearest emergency point, where doctors received them and later transferred them to the maternity ward.

Both mother and baby are in stable condition, with no life-threatening issues. The driver does not yet know the baby’s name, but he says the day will remain unforgettable.

“I just did what I had to do. I’m glad I could help. This is probably the most unusual call I’ve ever had in my life,” he added.
