Woman gives birth at “Gafur Gulyam” metro station in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — An unusual and heartwarming incident occurred in the Tashkent metro when a woman gave birth right at “Gafur Gulyam” station, the press service of the metropolitan reported.
According to the department, the incident took place when an internal affairs officer on duty at the station noticed that a woman was going into labor. He immediately alerted Naima Makhamadjanova, the station dispatcher in charge of train arrivals and departures.
Thanks to her professionalism and quick response, Makhamadjanova was able to provide first aid and assist in the delivery right on the spot. She carried out the necessary postnatal procedures — cutting and tying the umbilical cord and helping the newborn take its first breath, the report said.
Afterward, station staff called an ambulance and contacted the woman’s relatives. The medical team arrived about ten minutes later. Until their arrival, metro employees monitored the condition of both the mother and the baby, ensuring their safety and comfort.
“The condition of the mother and newborn is stable. They were taken to a hospital for further observation,” the metro’s press service said.
