Winners of Youth Initiative for Sustainable Development contest announced
The contest was organized by the State Committee for Ecology and Environmental Protection in cooperation with the British Council in Uzbekistan with the support of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education, as well as with the support of the British Embassy in Uzbekistan and the Delegation of the European Union in Uzbekistan.
The contest was aimed at supporting youth social initiatives, which are directed at developing innovative projects,, forming culture of social responsibility, etc.
Over 450 students from 22 educational institutions attended the contest and presented over 150 design works in various areas such as waste management, improving knowledge of students on ecology and sustainable development, etc.
The jury assessed the works of the participants and selected the winners. Students of Bukhara State University and the National University of Uzbekistan won the contest. They will travel to UK to exchange experience and received 7 million soums to implement their projects. About 20 authors of the best projects were awarded with incentive prizes and certificates.
