Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Regional Office for Europe of the World Health Organization (WHO), with the assistance of the WHO Representative Office in Uzbekistan, delivered a humanitarian cargo to the Republic of Uzbekistan, purchased by WHO Headquarters through the Global Fund solidarity and response to COVID-19, totaling over US$4 million and weighing approximately 85 tonnes.
The humanitarian cargo was dispatched in two stages. The first shipment arrived in Tashkent on 8 July and includes: 619,400 face shields and 2,176,000 surgical masks. The second batch was delivered to the capital on 17 July. It consists of personal protective equipment, including: protective goggles (95,200 pieces), protective gowns (178,000 pieces), surgical masks (12,000 pieces), KN95 respiratory masks (1,064,000 pieces).
The cargo is intended for transfer to the Agency for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The received humanitarian cargo is part of the assistance to Uzbekistan provided by the World Health Organization.
