Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8 October, at the Hilton hotel, the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the Uztekstilprom Association organized an official round table dedicated to the presentation of the Fashion Tashkent Incubator project (FIT).
This new initiative aims to develop and fully support emerging talented local designers and entrepreneurs in developing sustainable businesses in the fashion sector as part of a national ambition to secure the country's international reputation and visibility on the textile planet, and to support fashionable ideas.
Fashion Incubators are businesses that help new and emerging fashion companies grow by providing numerous services. They are not an alternative to fashion school as they mostly focus on business rather than design. They also allow people to exchange skills and experiences to further develop their brand using advanced equipment and technical services. More importantly, they facilitate networking with other creative entrepreneurs. Many offer low-cost design jobs, mentoring, and educational programs, making it ideal for those who thrive in a community setting.
The Tashkent Fashion Incubator (FIT) will be implemented according to a three-stage roadmap:
Phase 1 - Creation of a production facility and a pre-incubation program for the first listeners out of 10 selected candidates, with a focus on sustainable fashion ideas.
Phase 2 - Launching a full-fledged fashion incubator with first-class services and support.
Phase 3 – Creation of a strong local fashion scene, positioning Tashkent as a regional fashion capital through the emergence of a specialized multifunctional fashion center.
One of the key tasks of the Official Round Table is to motivate the participants to become active partners of a new initiative for the country. To achieve your goals and start the implementation of 3 stages, the project really requires the provision of financial resources. Initially, it is planned to launch a fundraising campaign and convince government agencies, international organizations and the private sector to support this ambitious project.
