Weak Earthquake of Magnitude 2.8 Recorded in Namangan Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On the evening of 7 February, an earthquake occurred in Uzbekistan. Tremors with a magnitude of 2.8 were registered at 20:22:57 local time in the Yangikurgan district of Namangan region.

The earthquake’s hypocenter was located at a depth of 5 kilometers, with coordinates 41.08° N, 71.66° E.

The intensity of the underground vibrations varied in nearby settlements: in the city of Namangan — 2–3 points at a depth of 9 km, in Namangan district — 2 points at 16 km depth, and in Chartak district — 2 points at 19 km depth. The distance from the epicenter to Tashkent is 206 km to the southeast.

No reports of damage or casualties have been received. The event is classified as a weak, local earthquake.
