Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- According to preliminary data, the volume of market services provided in January-July 2021 reached 150.65 trillion soums, and the nominal volume increased by 35.55 trillion soums, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said. In comparable terms, compared to January-July 2020, the growth rate was 20.5%.
If compare it with January 2021, then the volume of market services provided in July (discrete month) of the same year increased by 2.5 trillion soums and reached 23.0 trillion soums.
Compared to June 2021, the volume of services in July (discrete month) of 2021 decreased by 0.4 trillion soums.
In the structure of provided market services by type of economic activity, the largest share is occupied by trade services. In January-July 2021, their share was 25.0%.
At the same time, high rates were noted for transport (23.9%), financial services (22.3%), as well as for communication and informatization services (5.8%).
A slight increase in volumes was noted in the provision of computer repair services, whose share reached only 1.7%.
In January-July 2021, high growth was achieved in education (45.5%), in rental and rental services (33.8%), in healthcare (33.5%) related to real estate (28.9%), computer repair (28.7%), financial services (28.2%), individual services (22.3%), as well as communication and informatization services (20.3%).
This is, in particular, due to the restoration of the activities of enterprises and organizations, as well as the weakening of restrictions imposed in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
A slight increase in the volume of market services provided was recorded for trade services (by 11.5%).
Despite a significant reduction in the volume of market services provided in the transport sector, their share in the total volume of services remains predominant - 23.9%.
From the total volume of transport services, the share of road transport in January-July 2021 amounted to 52.9%.
In January-July 2021, the share of passenger road transport services reached 62.7%. In January - July 2021, the volume of market services provided by road transport was equal to 19.05 trillion soums. Compared to January-July 2020, the growth of these services increased by 16.3%.
The largest share falls on the city of Tashkent (17.1%), Tashkent (12.7%), Samarkand (11.2%), Ferghana (9.7%), Andijan (8.2%), Bukhara (7.7%) and Kashkadarya (7.6%) regions.
Syrdarya region has the smallest share of services provided by road transport. It was 1.8%.
In January-July 2021, high growth in road transport services was achieved in Ferghana (26.1%), Bukhara (20.9%) and Surkhandarya (20.8%) regions, as well as in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (22.1%).
A relatively insignificant increase in the volume of these services was recorded in Navoi region (+8.9%). In January-July 2021, the share of trade services in the total volume of market services provided amounted to 25.0%, which corresponds to 37.72 trillion soums.
Over the past period of 2021, the share of retail trade amounted to almost three quarters of the total volume of trade services, or, more precisely, 66.9%.
Compared to other regions, the largest share of retail trade services is observed in Kashkadarya (85.5 %), Andijan (84.6 %), Surkhandarya (83.5 %), Navoi (82.3 %) and Jizzakh (81.8 %) regions.
This indicator in the city of Tashkent is insignificant. Here it was only 46.1%. However, in this city, the share of services in wholesale trade (except for trade in cars and motorcycles) is quite significant - 46.6%.
In Andijan and Navoi regions, it was the smallest - 8.6%. A relatively high share of wholesale and retail trade in cars and motorcycles, including repair services, was noted in Tashkent (11.0%), Samarkand (9.4%), Navoi (9.1%), Khorezm (8.4%) and Ferghana (8.2%) regions.
The volume of financial services in January-July 2021 reached 33.53 trillion soums.
Over the past period of 2021, the share of financial services in the total volume of services amounted to 22.3%. Compared to January-July 2020, there is an increase in the volume of financial services by 8.12 trillion soums.
The growth of financial services in January-July 2021 amounted to 28.2%. The share of financial services, except for insurance and pension services, accounts for 88.6% of their total volume.
Over the past period of 2021, the share of insurance services was recorded in the range of 5.7%. Services auxiliary to financial and insurance services also accounted for 5.7% of the total volume of financial services.
In January-July 2021, the volume of communication and informatization services was fixed at the level of 8.8 trillion soums.
Compared to January-July 2020, the growth rate of this type of service reached 20.3%.
In the volume of communication and informatization services, the largest share falls on telecommunication services (wired and mobile communication services, Internet networks, satellite communication services, etc.). Their share in January-July 2021 was 74.9%. In January-July 2021, high growth rates of communication and informatization services were noted in Tashkent (+32.4%), Syrdarya (+23.8%), Surkhandarya (+20.6%), Khorezm (+19.8%) and Kashkadarya (+19.7%) regions, as well as in the city of Tashkent (+23.0%).
Their slight increase, compared to the same period in 2020, was recorded in Namangan (6.8%) and Andijan (11.0%) regions.
The growing demand for data related to the information economy (information and communication technologies and content) raises many questions about the interpretation of subgroups and boundaries related to the information economy. To address these issues, a working group of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has developed a classification for definitions of ICT and content sectors – an alternative set of ICT service and content sectors.
In January-July 2021, the volume of services in the field of education reached 6.11 trillion soums, or 4.1% of the total volume of market services provided. Compared to January-July 2020, the growth rate was 45.5%.
In January-July 2021, the largest volume of services in the field of education was noted in Samarkand (520.6 billion soums), Ferghana (343.6 billion soums), Bukhara (331.4 billion soums) and Andijan (322.9 billion soums) regions, as well as in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (319.6 billion soums) and the city of Tashkent (2 633.8 billion soums).
Compared to January-July 2020, the volume of accommodation and food services in the period under review increased by 1 trillion soums.
In January-July 2021, food and beverage services prevailed in the total volume of accommodation and catering services - 83.2%. In January-July 2021, a high growth in healthcare services was recorded in Surkhandarya region - 78.1%. Relatively low growth rates were observed in Andijan region - 108.8%.
In January-July 2021, the share of the city of Tashkent in the total volume of market services is the most significant - 36.6% (in January-July 2020 - 35.9%). The lowest indicators of the service sector were noted in Syrdarya region - 1.5% (in January-July 2020, the indicator was at the same level - 1.5%). In January-July 2021, the volume of market services provided per capita reached 4.34 million soums. Compared to January-July 2020, the growth rate was 18.3%.
As of 1 August 2021, the share of enterprises and organizations providing services reached 65.2%, industry - 17.4%, agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 8.9%. 8.5% of enterprises and organizations operate in construction.
In the structure of operating enterprises and organizations related to the service sector, the share engaged in trade activities prevails (44.3%). The number of functioning enterprises and organizations providing accommodation and food services amounted to 9.6%.
The share of operating enterprises and organizations related to transportation and storage and related to the service sector in their total number reached 5.4%. The share of operating enterprises and organizations engaged in information activities and providing communication services is 3.1%.
The number of operating enterprises and organizations providing services in the field of health care and social security amounted to 2.9% of their total number. In January-July 2021, the share of small businesses in the total volume of market services produced amounted to 50.1%.
As of 1 August 2021, small businesses accounted for 81.2% of the total number of enterprises and organizations providing services.
