Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 4 June 2022, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov received a delegation of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), headed by its Executive Director Kairat Sarybay, who arrived in our country on a working visit.

The meeting discussed the state and prospects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the CICA.

An exchange of views took place on the implementation of initiatives to further expand cooperation within the framework of the CICA, put forward by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the summit of this forum on 15 June  2019 in Dushanbe.

The intensification of participation of Uzbekistan in the activities of the Conference in recent years was noted. In particular, since 2020, Uzbekistan has been assigned the role of coordinator of CICA confidence-building measures in the human dimension. As part of the fulfillment of this mandate, the Uzbek side held an international online conference "The role of youth in the fight against terrorism, extremism and radicalism" in 2021.

Particular attention was paid to issues related to the preparations for the Sixth Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia, scheduled for 12-13 October in Nur-Sultan.

Certain issues of the regional and international agenda were also discussed at the talks.
