Visa unveils AI-powered vision for the future of commerce
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During its global showcase, Visa Global Product Drop, Visa presented its vision of the future of commerce, placing artificial intelligence (AI) at the core of its innovation strategy.
The company introduced intelligent tools to help consumers discover and purchase products, alongside announcements of strategic alliances and innovative offerings aimed at transforming digital commerce.
“As new forms of payment continue to emerge, we need an infrastructure that is always available, secure, scalable, and constantly evolving,” said Visa CEO Ryan McInerney. “We’re leveraging our global network and deep expertise to create solutions that redefine commerce, make AI-powered payments more secure, and foster greater trust.”
Visa is steering towards integrating AI across digital commerce, believing such technologies will revolutionize the way consumers search for and buy goods. In the near future, users will be able to delegate purchasing and order management tasks to intelligent agents. For this shift to succeed, these AI systems must earn the trust of users, banks, and merchants alike. Visa aims to be the trusted backbone of AI commerce, offering its global network to partners ranging from fintechs and AI platforms to merchants.
At the heart of the event was Visa Intelligent Commerce, a new initiative that grants developers and engineers access to Visa’s payment infrastructure to build the first generation of AI-powered commercial solutions. Visa also announced new partnerships in the stablecoin space to expand access to financial services globally.
Additionally, Visa introduced upgrades to its Flex Credential platform and a range of new products aimed at expanding the ways people send and receive payments. These developments mark the dawn of a new era in commerce and digital money transfers.
With over 3.3 trillion transactions processed in the past 25 years and 4.8 billion Visa cards in circulation, Visa is now applying its expertise to fuel the AI-commerce revolution. Soon, users will be able to authorize AI agents to use their Visa cards for various purchases — both online and in over 150 million locations that accept digital payments worldwide.
“Visa has long used AI to enhance security and fight fraud. Today, we’re moving further — using AI to empower consumers and make digital commerce more personalized and engaging,” McInerney said. “Payment is the cornerstone of commerce, and our role is to provide the trust and expertise it requires.”
To scale AI-driven commerce, Visa is partnering with leading AI companies and trusted global brands, including Anthropic, IBM, Microsoft, Mistral AI, OpenAI, Perplexity, Stripe, and Samsung.
“AI agents will fundamentally transform shopping — from automating daily purchases to helping with more complex tasks like reserving a restaurant table or booking concert tickets,” said Jack Forestell, Visa’s Chief Product and Strategy Officer. “This is a true revolution, bringing magic and convenience to the consumer experience.”
Visa also revealed developments in crypto technology. For over five years, it has supported digital asset transactions and is now launching new tools — including Visa cards, settlements, and programmable money features — tied to stablecoins. In partnership with Bridge, a Stripe subsidiary, Visa is building a new card product enabling fintechs to issue stablecoin-linked Visa cards through a single API integration across multiple countries.
The Flex Credential platform, which allows switching between debit, credit, and BNPL (Buy Now, Pay Later) modes, is expanding. Visa plans to add features like access to credit lines, investment accounts, rewards programs, business cards, and more. A new partnership with Klarna will bring Flex Credential to the U.S. and debut BNPL debit cards in Europe, with more details expected soon.
Other innovations include:
Visa Pay: A new service enabling digital wallets connected to Visa to be compatible with local and global merchants, both online and offline. A beta version will launch in select countries in Asia, Europe, and Latin America.
Visa Accept: A tool for micro-businesses to receive payments via any NFC-enabled smartphone using a qualifying Visa debit card. The beta will roll out in July across Latin America and Asia.
With these advancements, Visa is moving closer to building a truly global digital economy — where technology and artificial intelligence drive the next generation of consumer experiences.
