Vessel Carrying Uzbek Nationals Crashes in Thailand
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A maritime accident occurred on 11 January 2026 in Thailand’s Krabi province, in the waters of the Andaman Sea, when a speedboat collided with a fishing vessel, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.
The speedboat was carrying 52 tourists, including three citizens of Uzbekistan. As a result of the collision, 22 people were injured, and 18-year-old Russian citizen Elizaveta Starykh died.
The Uzbek Foreign Ministry clarified that two Uzbek nationals sustained minor injuries and were hospitalized at a local medical facility.
Their condition has since fully stabilized, and both have been discharged from hospital in accordance with established procedures.
All medical and related expenses incurred by the injured individuals were fully covered by the insurance company owned by the speedboat operator.
