Valentina Matvienko visits the State Academic Russian Drama Theater
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 1 October 2019, Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva and Chairman of the Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko visited the State Academic Russian Drama Theater of Uzbekistan.
During the visit, the distinguished guest was briefly informed about the history and creative activity of the theater. It was noted that one of the oldest theater in the country is a place in which Uzbek and Russian cultures are closely intertwined. The life of the State Academic Russian Drama Theater is inseparable from those processes that determined the development of the Uzbek national theater.
This year, the theater celebrates its 85th anniversary. The State Academic Russian Drama Theater played a significant role in the development of theatrical culture of Uzbekistan. Generously sharing the richest experience of the Russian scene, he has always been a link linking the ties between Russian and Uzbek theater art. In turn, the theater was enriched by the achievements of the Uzbek drama.
The theater revealed to the audience a treasury of world art. The freedom-loving heroes of the romantic drama of Schiller and Hugo, the images of Shakespeare's tragedies, the vivid and life-affirming characters of the comedies of Moliere and Goldoni, whose sparkling humor mesmerized the auditorium, all this spiritual wealth was warmly received by the audience who loved the theater and its actors.
During the years of independence, a new round in the creative activity of the Russian Drama Theater began. This period is characterized by a new direction with the main emphasis on modern stylistics. It was at this time that the theater became a true center of realistic art, in which the pursuit of life truth is combined with vivid theatricality.
The theater’s creative group presented the performance “Bankrupt or our people will be reckoned” for the audience. Talented theater artists, such as Honored Artist of Uzbekistan Oleg Vasiliev, Honored Artist of Uzbekistan Lyudmila Stotskaya and others, are involved in the play.
Valentina Matvienko noted that viewing the work of stage art left her vivid impressions, which testifies to the skill of the theater’s creative team.
