V Anti-Corruption Forum Concludes in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 23 October 2025, the 5th Tashkent Anti-Corruption Forum took place in Uzbekistan’s capital. It served as the central event of the annual “Anti-Corruption Week”, organized under the initiative of the National Council on Combating Corruption.

The main goal of the forum was to elevate international dialogue and cooperation in combating corruption, exchange experience and innovative approaches, develop new initiatives for corruption prevention, and strengthen Uzbekistan’s international reputation as a reliable partner.

The forum was organized by the Anti-Corruption Agency with the support of major international partners, including the European Union, UN Development Programme, GIZ, U.S. Department of State, OECD, UN Office on Drugs and Crime, OSCE, Konrad Adenauer Foundation, and the Qatar Center for Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption.

The event brought together over 250 participants, including foreign delegations, government representatives, civil society, and media. Attendees included heads of anti-corruption agencies from more than 20 countries, such as Germany, Slovenia, Georgia, Lithuania, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Mongolia, Indonesia, and Azerbaijan, as well as leading experts from Transparency International, OECD, Asian Development Bank, OSCE, and UN entities.

As part of the forum, 21 October hosted the International Assembly of Business Ombudsmen and the 4th Fair Business Forum. On 22 October, a workshop for NGOs on Monitoring Public Expenditures and Ensuring Accountability was held, along with the presentation of a draft law on the protection of whistleblowers and an OSCE joint seminar on transparency and openness as tools to combat corruption. The forum also introduced the “Island of Integrity” initiative, piloted in three regions with support from the UN Development Programme and European experts.

A significant initiative discussed was hosting the 12th Conference of States Parties to the UN Convention Against Corruption in 2027, seen as a key step to enhance Uzbekistan’s international role in anti-corruption efforts.

The forum program also covered modern anti-corruption approaches, including “Anti-Corruption Artificial Intelligence,” “Next-Level Compliance Control,” and Anti-Corruption Education.

Participants developed specific proposals to improve anti-corruption policies, increase the effectiveness of measures, and strengthen international cooperation.

The forum concluded with the adoption of the V Tashkent Anti-Corruption Forum Declaration.

The outcomes of the forum demonstrated that Uzbekistan is actively deepening national reforms in anti-corruption and positioning itself as a proactive participant in the global anti-corruption movement.
