Uzum Market Clarifies Old Order Charges and Refunds Users

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Reports of mass deductions from users’ accounts for purchases on Uzum Market appeared on social media, with users claiming that no new orders had been made and that funds were withdrawn as “overdue payments for Uzum Market orders.”

The marketplace’s press service explained that on December 30, the company conducted its annual reconciliation and wrote off debts for old orders. Users had received SMS notifications regarding their outstanding balances.

“Over the course of the year, some of our customers received their orders free of charge due to payment system errors: the funds for these purchases were returned to users’ accounts but never reached us. During the annual reconciliation, the system automatically charged payments for orders that had already been received,” the company stated.

Uzum Market decided to gift these items to users. “The funds have already been returned to customers’ cards,” the press service added.
