UzLiDeP supports youth with its projects

The youth makes up majority of population of Uzbekistan and supporting their professional, spiritual and intellectual growth, improving work conditions and attracting them to business activities is part of the programme of UzLiDeP.

The party supports close cooperation ties with the youth and focuses on increasing its members due to youth. The party said that it had 51,725 young members at the age between 18 and 34 in 2004 and the figure rose to 89,044 in 2013. About 1,961 of them are chairpersons of the primary party organizations.

UzLiDeP holds several competitions and projects to improve activity of youth and form their positions, as well as develop business skills such as “To business with diploma”, “Business student”, “My role in parliament”, etc.

The party has been holding the project “To business with diploma” since 2010, which is directed at attracting youth to business activities, help graduates of colleges and universities to business activities, increase number of members of the party due to young businesses.

In 2009-2013, over 6,000 graduates of colleges and universities participated in the project. So far, 2,806 projects of participants received preferential loans for 13.159 billion soums and they started their businesses. They created over 6,000 jobs. In 2013, about 800 graduates of various regions received loans for 3 billion soums.

The project “Business student” has been held since 2014 and it is directed at strengthening economic knowledge of young businesses. About 30,000 students of lyceums and colleges participated in the project. About 248 of them received stipends from the party. Over 5,000 of the participants carry out entrepreneurship activities, farming, and work-outs.

Since 2010 the party has been organizing the project “My role in parliament”, directed at attracting youth to processing of building democratic country and strong civil society, explain new laws. Over 480 events were held in various regions of Uzbekistan, which were attended by MPs and Senators of Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan and 27,000 youth.

Head of department on work with youth of Executive Committee of Political Council of UzLiDeP Begmat Ochilov said that five members of Youth Wing of the party were elected to Legislative Chamber, in elections held in 2009, and 234 people to local deputies’ councils. He said that projects like “My role in parliament” and “If I become MP” play important role in this.

The main goal of the contest is to form skills among youth to develop recommendations and proposals on execution of laws, their submission to sessions of local deputies’ councils, etc. over 2,500 people from 20,000 participants were included to reserve of perspective young cadres of the party.

UzLiDeP has been organizing a content “Young scientists and researchers”, which help to implement priority tasks, outlined in the Concept on deepening democratic reforms and forming civil society in the country and determined in the progamme of the party, improve social activity of youth, reveal young researches. Over 440 young researches and scientists participated in the conferences of the contest and 280 of them were included reserve of perspective young cadres of the party and 40 are receiving material and moral support.

The party noted that it will hold these projects this year as well and called young people to participate in them actively.
