UzLiDeP and Farmers’ Council hold event on training specialists for agriculture sector
Representatives of the party, Central Bank of Uzbekistan, State Tax Committee, experts, businesses and farmers participated at the event.
Agriculture sector plays important role in economy of Uzbekistan and contributes to the growth of all sectors. Currently, 63% of population of Uzbekistan lives in rural areas and 95% of demands of population are satisfied due to agriculture sphere.
In his speech at the session of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan from 17 January 2014, President of Uzbekistan underlined that the country pays attention to development of agriculture sector. The production of agriculture goods rose 2.3 times in 2013 compared to 2000. The production of agriculture products rose by 6.8%, plant-growing – 6.4% and husbandry – 7.4%.
During the meeting, the participants underlined that the gross domestic product (GDP) decreased by 15 percentage points in last 15 years and reached 16.8% in 2013. There are 18,000 multifunctional farms in Uzbekistan, which produces agriculture goods, provide services to population and carry out construction works.
At the meeting, the participants underlined that special events were organized at 156 specialized agriculture colleges in all districts of Uzbekistan, which was attended by 24,000 students. It was underlined that these meetings were fruitful.
The participants discussed issues of developing agriculture and farmers’ movement in Uzbekistan at the meeting. It was stated that young people, who received education in agriculture sector, reached some success in introduction of innovations in agriculture sector.
