“Uzkomnazorat” Appointed as Authorized Media Oversight Body

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree “On Measures to Improve the System of State Control in the Fields of Information and Digital Technologies.”

The document grants the Inspection for Control in the Sphere of Informatization and Telecommunications under the Ministry of Digital Technologies the powers of an authorized state body in several key areas.

These include state oversight in informatization, telecommunications, postal services, and digital technologies, registration of mass media outlets, monitoring compliance with legal requirements, and protecting children from information that could harm their health.

According to the decree, the “Digital Control” platform is planned to be launched by 1 January 2027. This platform will enable monitoring of services in digital technologies and telecommunications, including in remote areas, facilitate rapid response to disruptions or outages of information systems, resources, software, and databases, and ensure timely consideration of appeals from individuals and legal entities.
