Uzbekneftegaz Slams Neftgazmontazh Performance
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Chairman of the Board of Uzbekneftegaz, Abdugani Sanguinov, held a meeting to review the performance of Neftgazmontazh, delivering strong criticism of the company’s operations, according to the corporate press service.
During the discussion, it was noted that production processes are organized using outdated and non-digitalized systems. Management highlighted conflicts of interest and the absence of modern governance mechanisms, which have negatively affected the company’s financial discipline.
Performance indicators have deteriorated significantly. The volume of construction work has declined by 21.4%, while warehouse inventories of material and technical resources have surged by 129% without justification. In addition, employees have not been paid wages since November 2025.
The company also reported a drop in business activity, rising turnover of qualified personnel, and insufficient management of its order portfolio.
The condition of assets was described as крайне inefficient. Of 562 units of equipment, more than half are non-operational: 128 units have been written off as unusable, while another 218 remain out of order. The lack of systematic maintenance over an extended period has led to widespread equipment failure, while the absence of GPS monitoring has weakened control over transport. Additional criticism was directed at recurring overspending on the maintenance of unused facilities.
Following the meeting, Sanguinov instructed that decisive measures be taken to stabilize the situation. Priority steps include the introduction of digital document management and treasury mechanisms, strict compliance with the law “On Public Procurement,” a full audit of accounting practices, and enhanced transparency in procurement procedures.
Inefficient assets, including unusable equipment and idle facilities, are to be sold through auctions, while defective machinery must be promptly repaired.
Special attention was given to nepotism. The company noted that the hiring of relatives by managers had become systemic, undermining efficiency and fair кадровая policy.
As a result of the review, several officials, including the compliance inspector and deputy directors for economics and construction, were deemed unfit for their positions.
Director Alisher Akbarov has been suspended and given three months to rectify the situation. The company has also been instructed to fully clear wage arrears to employees within one week.
Uzbekneftegaz outlined a strategic goal of transforming Neftgazmontazh into a large, modern contracting organization. Planned measures include equipping the enterprise with modern machinery, increasing work volumes tenfold, optimizing staff numbers, and gradually raising employee salaries.
