“Uzbekiston Temir Yullari” to Purchase 20 Electric Trains for Suburban Routes

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — JSC Uzbekiston Temir Yullari plans to purchase 20 modern electric trains from abroad in 2026–2030 to serve suburban routes from Tashkent as well as routes in other regions of the country. This follows a resolution signed by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The document approves measures to develop passenger transportation on domestic railway routes for the 2026–2030 period.

One of the key priorities outlined is the renewal of rolling stock through the acquisition of modern electric multiple units.

At the first stage, the president instructed the purchase of 10 electric trains for local routes, following an assessment of public opinion and an evaluation of passenger comfort levels.

The resolution also approves a list of 18 suburban rail routes that are planned to be operated over the next five years.
