Uzbekistan's U18 Junior Ice Hockey Team to Compete at World Championship in Hong Kong
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan's under-18 junior ice hockey team will take part in the IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship Division IIIA, to be held from 2 to 8 March 2026, in Hong Kong.
Six national teams will compete in the tournament: Uzbekistan, Hong Kong, Bulgaria, Turkey, Israel, and New Zealand. The competing sides will vie for promotion to Division IIB.
Uzbekistan's junior team made its world championship debut in 2025 in Division IIIB, where it finished in first place and earned the right to compete in Division IIIA.
The Ice Hockey Federation of Uzbekistan regards the team's participation in the world championship as an important milestone in the long-term strategy for developing the sport in the country, as well as an opportunity to assess the effectiveness of the national system for training young players.
