Uzbekistan’s Strategic Reforms Agency Discusses New Development Initiatives with Suma Chakrabarti
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Bahodir Rakhmatov, Director of the Strategic Reforms Agency, held an online meeting with Suma Chakrabarti, Advisor to the President of Uzbekistan on economic development, public administration, and international cooperation.
The discussion summarized the activities of the Advisor’s Office in 2025 and addressed key areas for further work. Particular attention was given to the use of the “Country Platform” initiative, a key tool for coordinating between government agencies, international financial institutions, and donors. Enhancing the efficiency of the platform’s secretariat and working groups was highlighted as a priority.
The dialogue also covered demographic trends and their socio-economic implications, emphasizing that decision-making should rely on reliable statistical data and international best practices. Practical proposals were presented for the draft National Strategy for Demographic Resilience.
Additionally, the organization of an investor roadshow under the slogan “New Uzbekistan: A Big Country with Big Opportunities” was discussed. The importance of providing new investor services through a “single-window” approach and strengthening human capital in this area was emphasized.
Suma Chakrabarti stressed the continuation of cooperation in education in 2026, particularly within the framework of the Said Business School program at Oxford University.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides confirmed their readiness to expand international collaboration, deepen partnerships in priority areas, and implement new joint initiatives.
