Uzbekistan’s State Customs Committee Explains iPhone 17 Customs Clearance Procedure
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan has published clarifications regarding the calculation of customs duties for individuals importing goods for personal use, including the recently released iPhone 17.
According to the committee, the duty-free allowance depends on the method of crossing the state border. For air travel, citizens may bring in goods valued up to US$1,000 without paying customs duties.
For those traveling by rail or river transport, the limit is set at US$500, while crossing the border by car or on foot allows a duty-free threshold of US$300.
If the value of the device exceeds the specified limit, a single customs payment of 30% is applied to the excess amount. In addition, an administrative fee for customs processing must be paid — 25% of the base calculation value, which currently stands at 103,000 Uzbek soms.
Customs value is determined based on submitted receipts and other commercial documents. In the absence of such documents, customs authorities independently assess the value using data from the electronic cargo declaration database, official manufacturer price lists, and information from Apple’s website in the country of import.
Apple unveiled the iPhone 17 lineup in early September, and the new devices have already begun arriving on markets in various countries.
