Uzbekistan’s solar and wind power generation reaches 8 billion kWh
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As of 23 September 2025, the total volume of electricity generated by Uzbekistan’s solar and wind power plants reached 8 billion kWh, the Ministry of Energy reported.
This milestone reflects the rapid development of “green” energy and the implementation of strategic objectives outlined by the President of the country on 20 September 2023 at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, including adapting the economy to climate change, achieving carbon neutrality, and increasing the share of renewable energy sources.
Currently, Uzbekistan operates 12 solar photovoltaic plants with a combined capacity of 4,682 MW and 5 wind power plants. The use of renewable energy has saved 2.424 billion cubic meters of natural gas and prevented the emission of 3.552 million tons of harmful substances into the atmosphere.
In addition, from the beginning of 2025 to 23 September, all hydro, solar, and wind power plants in the country produced a total of 13.22 billion kWh of electricity. As a result, the share of “green” energy in overall power generation amounts to 22 percent.
These volumes are sufficient to supply electricity to 7.3 million households for nine months or 5.5 million households for a full year.
