Uzbekistan’s Road Safety Service Denies Rumors of Mandatory Retesting for Drivers Licensed Before 2021

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — False information has circulated on social media claiming that drivers who obtained national driving licenses before 2021 are required to undergo a free mandatory retest, causing concern among vehicle owners.

The Road Safety Service (RSS) officially denied these claims, emphasizing that they are unfounded and have no legal basis.

The agency stated that there are no requirements for repeat examinations at the new testing centers for this category of drivers, according to the press service of the RSS under the Public Safety Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan.

The RSS urged social media users to refrain from spreading unverified or false information that may mislead citizens and provoke social tension.

The agency also reminded that, under Article 202² of the Code of Administrative Responsibility of the Republic of Uzbekistan (“Dissemination of False Information”), spreading knowingly false information that threatens public order or safety—through media, telecommunications networks, or the internet—can result in fines ranging from 50 to 100 basic calculation units.

The RSS recommends that citizens rely solely on official information sources and verify any messages before sharing them.
