Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Health Issues Dietary Recommendations for New Year Holidays

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan reminds citizens of the importance of maintaining a balanced diet during the New Year holidays.

Traditionally, a variety of dishes appear on holiday tables, but excessive consumption of fatty, fried, salty, and sweet foods places additional strain on the gastrointestinal tract, liver, cardiovascular system, and metabolism.

This is particularly risky for people with chronic illnesses, for whom overindulgence may trigger exacerbations.

Experts recommend prioritizing boiled, stewed, or steamed foods over heavy and fried dishes, limiting salads with mayonnaise, processed meats, and salty foods, and increasing the intake of vegetables, greens, and fresh fruits.

Sweets should be consumed in moderation, with a preference for water or green tea instead of sugary drinks, and meals should be eaten slowly and at regular times, especially avoiding heavy foods in the evening.

Adequate water consumption supports metabolism and contributes to overall well-being.

The Ministry encourages citizens to celebrate the New Year joyfully and in good spirits while practicing moderation in eating. A conscious approach to diet will help start the year healthily without reducing the enjoyment of holiday meals, the ministry notes.
