Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy Comments on Situation at M-25 Gas Field
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan has issued an official statement regarding a temporary flame-out observed on 2 November at gas well No. 202 of the “M-25” field in the Baysun district of Surkhandarya region.
“At well No. 202 of the ‘M-25’ field, a temporary extinguishing of a previously ignited flare from a gushing natural gas stream was observed. According to specialists, this phenomenon occurred as a result of geological processes taking place at the field,” the Ministry said in its statement.
The Ministry emphasized that after the brief flame-out, the flare was promptly re-ignited to prevent the release of harmful substances into the atmosphere.
“This procedure is a standard method for preventing environmental pollution and fully complies with international industrial safety requirements. The situation is currently stable and under the control of specialists,” the statement noted.
The Ministry of Energy also stressed that the observed event was routine and related to ongoing field regulation operations.
“No irregular circumstances have been recorded. It should be noted that this event is not connected to the earthquake registered at 01:29 on 3 November 2025,” the Ministry added.
