Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Defense Reports on Increased Combat Readiness and Citizen Engagement
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 24 December, at a session of the Senate Committee on Defense and Security, the Minister of Defense of Uzbekistan presented a report on the development of the Armed Forces, the conscription of citizens, the provision of military security, and the handling of citizen inquiries.
The report notes that the Ministry of Defense has carried out effective work in fulfilling the tasks set by the President of Uzbekistan, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. As a result, the combat potential of the army has reached a high level.
To enhance combat readiness, analyses of modern armed conflicts and best practices from the armies of over ten countries—including the United States, the United Kingdom, Israel, Russia, China, and India—were implemented. A new combat readiness system was developed and introduced, reducing troop mobilization times by 1.2 times.
In 2025, citizens were conscripted for mandatory military service and discharged into the reserve. In cooperation with defense offices and regional departments of the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction, 89.4% of discharged reservists were successfully employed.
Additionally, 385 servicemen received new apartments through preferential mortgage programs, and 178 were provided with official housing.
Special attention was given to preventive and educational activities for young people registered with the Ministry of Defense: out of more than 14,600 citizens under observation, approximately 3,500 were removed from the register ahead of schedule.
Regarding citizen inquiries, 3,157 appeals were received in the first eleven months of 2025, of which 1,222 were resolved positively, 1,358 received legal consultations, and 90 remain under review. Since November 1, a “Call Center” has been operating, handling 857 appeals in a month, 722 of which were resolved verbally and 135 are under consideration.
Following the discussion, the Senate Committee adopted specific recommendations on the issues reviewed, aimed at further improving the operations of the Ministry of Defense.
