Uzbekistan's Minister of Mining Meets Traxys Group Delegation on Critical Minerals Project

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 24 February 2026, Bobir Islamov, Minister of Mining Industry and Geology of Uzbekistan, met with a delegation from Traxys Group led by Chief Executive Officer Mark Kristoff.

Senior ministry officials, along with the heads of the state enterprise Navoiyuran and JSC UzKTM, also took part in the meeting.

The main focus was on the transformation of the mining and geological sector, the creation of a favorable environment for investors, and the establishment of long-term cooperation on key projects.

The Traxys representatives were briefed on the current achievements of industry enterprises, their future plans, the challenges they face, and the international recognition earned by Uzbek mining companies.

On 19 February, in the presence of the President of Uzbekistan, an agreement was signed with Traxys on the extraction and supply of critical minerals. According to the presentation delivered at the meeting, the total value of the project stands at one billion US dollars, with planned production capacity of 150 tonnes per year.

An initial agreement on the project was reached in January of this year, with the next implementation phase scheduled for May.
