Uzbekistan’s Minister of Justice Meets with Ambassador of Latvia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 26 September, Minister of Justice Akbar Tashkulov received Girts Jaunzems, the newly appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to Uzbekistan.

At the start of the meeting, Minister Tashkulov highlighted the existing cooperation between Uzbekistan and Latvia, emphasizing the achievements so far. This includes collaboration with the embassy in areas such as legal assistance, professional development of civil servants through Latvian academic centers, and legislative initiatives.

Ambassador Jaunzems, in turn, expressed awareness of ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan and shared that Latvia has implemented over ten projects covering human rights, IT, and education. He also confirmed the embassy’s readiness for close cooperation with the Ministry of Justice in legal and judicial matters.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on future priorities, reaching agreements on collaboration in intellectual property protection, mutual legal assistance, and other areas of joint interest.
