Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies Meets New York Mayor Eric Adams

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Sherzod Shermatov, Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, met with New York Mayor Eric Adams to discuss the development of the digital economy, remote work, data centers, workforce training, and outsourcing.

The meeting began with a presentation on IT Park, highlighting Uzbekistan’s efforts to build a modern digital ecosystem. Minister Shermatov detailed ongoing reforms, achieved results, and future plans, also presenting the activities of UZSOC and the Unified Integrator UZINFOCOM.

The discussion covered the investment climate for new businesses, existing tax incentives, and strategic initiatives to improve IT education, particularly given the country’s annual population growth of over one million people. Special attention was given to the accelerated adoption of remote work and automation driven by the global pandemic, creating new economic opportunities.

The participants emphasized Uzbekistan’s multilingual population—fluent in English, Russian, Arabic, German, Korean, and Japanese—as a competitive advantage for international companies and global service development.

Prospects for cooperation in IT services, data centers, logistics systems, remote services, and mobile platforms were discussed, including the construction of large-scale data centers and partnerships with foreign companies for data exchange.

Both sides agreed to develop the startup ecosystem, create favorable conditions for investors, and enhance Uzbekistan’s potential as an international innovation hub, noting that the country’s multicultural environment fosters creativity and innovation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Shermatov and Mayor Adams expressed readiness to jointly test projects, implement new technological solutions, and expand bilateral cooperation in the digital sector.
