Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies Meets Director of ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of ICT Week Uzbekistan – 2025, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, held a meeting with Cosmas Zavazava, Director of the Telecommunication Development Bureau of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

The discussions focused on preparations for the upcoming ITU Plenipotentiary Conference, scheduled to take place from 9 to 27 November 2026, in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

A key topic on the agenda was Uzbekistan’s election as a member of the ITU Council. The parties also discussed ways to strengthen the country’s international standing, accelerate the development of its digital economy, and expand global cooperation in the field of information and communication technologies.

Cosmas Zavazava highly praised Uzbekistan’s digitalization reforms and initiatives, noting the country’s achievements in developing digital infrastructure, improving e-government systems, and implementing advanced information technologies. According to him, Uzbekistan’s successes can serve as a model for other nations.

Following the meeting, both sides confirmed their intention to deepen cooperation within the ITU framework and support Uzbekistan’s international initiatives.
