Uzbekistan’s Minister of Agriculture Participates in Global Olive Forum
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 19 November, the historic Spanish city of Córdoba hosted the 122nd session of the International Olive Council (IOC), held in a hybrid format at the Palacio de la Merced complex.
The event brought together IOC member states, observer countries, and industry experts. The Uzbek delegation was led by the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov.
The session addressed the confirmation of members’ mandates, the identification of priority areas for 2025–2026, consideration of proposals related to international agreements, financial reports, banking operations, and draft resolutions for the coming year.
IOC Executive Director Jaime Lillo delivered a report on global developments in the olive market, the need to ensure sustainable production amid intensifying climate change, and the beginning of a new phase of international cooperation.
Uzbekistan’s participation provided an opportunity to study advanced global practices in olive cultivation, discuss the introduction of modern agricultural technologies, expand processing capacities, and align product quality with international standards, while also strengthening regional and global cooperation.
By taking part in the forum, Uzbekistan not only enhanced its position on the international stage but also demonstrated its commitment to harmonizing national reforms with global trends.
The 122nd session of the International Olive Council served as an important platform for discussing innovation, sustainability, and improving the efficiency of olive cultivation.
Uzbekistan reaffirmed its intention to play an active role in these processes, enrich national development programs with international expertise, and elevate the sector to a fundamentally new level.
