Uzbekistan’s MFA Warns Citizens in the U.S. About Enhanced Driver Checks
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan has issued a notice to its citizens operating vehicles in the United States. The statement highlights that federal immigration authorities have intensified inspections and control measures targeting drivers.
Inspections pay particular attention to the authenticity of driver’s licenses, the legality and validity of personal documents, possession of work permits, compliance with immigration status, and English language proficiency.
These measures are part of the U.S. government’s stricter policy to combat illegal migration, accompanied by increased enforcement operations on federal highways, where authorities have broad powers.
The MFA reminded citizens of recent detentions of Uzbek nationals, one of whom was found using multiple driver’s licenses, while another was wanted in Uzbekistan.
Citizens are strongly advised to carry proof of legal immigration status and ensure that all documents are valid and in order.
In case of suspicious or complicated situations, the Ministry urges immediate contact with Uzbekistan’s diplomatic and consular missions in the United States.
