Uzbekistan’s Legislative Chamber Ratifies Tripoint Border Agreement

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  At a session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, deputies considered the draft law “On the Ratification of the Agreement between the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, and the Republic of Tajikistan on the Tripoint of State Borders (Khujand, 31 March 2025).”

It was noted that, thanks to the firm political will of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Central Asia has undergone profound transformations in recent years, gaining a new face. The region has become a space for constructive dialogue, trust, and comprehensive cooperation.

The period of closed borders and unresolved disputes is now in the past; today, relations between regional countries are built on principles of good-neighborliness and mutual benefit.

Emphasis was placed on the fact that the resolution of border issues between Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan is the result of years of meticulous work, sincere dialogue, and collaboration based on mutual respect, sovereignty, and equality. The adopted agreement holds significant importance for further strengthening regional unity and cohesion.

The document, signed on 31 March 2025 in Khujand during a meeting of the three countries’ leaders, defines the location of the tripoint and the alignment of the borders in this area.

Ratification of the agreement will further consolidate good-neighborly relations, trust, and strategic partnership between the three fraternal countries, while enhancing the international authority of Central Asia. It also provides a solid legal framework for increased citizen interaction, expanded cross-border economic activity, development of border trade, implementation of joint infrastructure projects, and creation of new jobs.

The draft law was approved by the deputies and forwarded to the Senate for consideration.
