Uzbekistan’s Junior Chess Team Wins Overall Standings at U17 World Championship in Antalya
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Uzbekistan national team claimed first place in the overall team standings at the World Chess Championship for players under 17, which concluded in Antalya, Türkiye, the press service of the Uzbekistan Chess Federation reported.
The world championship featured competitions for boys and girls aged 9 to 17 and included events in rapid chess and blitz.
By the end of the tournament, the Uzbek team had won a total of 12 medals — five gold, two silver, and five bronze — convincingly outpacing their rivals.
The Turkish team secured second place in the team standings, earning eight medals in total.
Third place went to the FIDE team, which won six medals.
