Uzbekistan’s Interior Ministry and OSCE Discuss Role of Technology in Combating Human Trafficking

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 13 February 2026, a meeting took place at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan between Carey Johnston, Special Representative and Coordinator on Combating Human Trafficking for the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), and representatives of the Uzbek ministry.

Johnston visited the country to participate in a seminar held on 12–13 February at the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies, titled “Combating Human Trafficking in Uzbekistan through the Use of Technology.”

The meeting focused on regional and global trends in countering organized crime, including human trafficking related to migration and sexual exploitation, as well as the role of information technology in detecting and preventing such crimes.

Special attention was given to strengthening cooperation with OSCE member states.

The event took place in a constructive and friendly atmosphere, with both sides exchanging views on collaboration prospects and discussing plans for the further development of joint efforts.
