Uzbekistan’s Government Limits State Spending on Holiday Events

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — By government resolution, ministries, agencies, regional administrations, the Tashkent city administration, and state-owned enterprises with at least a 50% government share are prohibited from using budgetary or extra-budgetary funds for New Year corporate parties and festive banquets.

The restriction is aimed at preventing the use of public funds for such events.

At the same time, government employees are allowed to organize celebrations on their own at their personal expense during non-working hours.

This rule does not apply to private commercial organizations or companies without state participation.
