Uzbekistan’s GDP Growth in 2025 Expected at 6.2% — Updated World Bank Forecast
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The World Bank has revised upward its economic growth forecast for Uzbekistan for the period 2025–2027.
According to the organization’s “Europe and Central Asia Economic Update: Jobs and Prosperity” report, Uzbekistan’s GDP is expected to grow by 6.2% in 2025 and by 6.0% in 2026.
In the June forecast, both figures were estimated at 5.9%. The projection for 2027 has also been raised — from 5.8% to 5.9%.
According to the World Bank, Uzbekistan’s economy expanded by 6.6% in 2024, compared with the June 2025 forecast of 6.5%.
The Bank highlights a record inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) into the country: in 2024, FDI reached $11.9 billion. Strong growth continues in 2025, with nearly two-thirds of all investments coming from external sources.
At the same time, the World Bank projects that many developing countries in Europe and Central Asia will experience a slowdown in the growth of their working-age populations.
By 2050, the working-age population in the region is expected to decline by 17 million, with ten countries projected to see a reduction of 25% or more.
However, some nations are expected to see increases: in Tajikistan, the working-age population is forecast to grow by 3.6 million (+55%), while in Uzbekistan it will rise by nearly 10 million (+42%).
