Uzbekistan’s Foreign Trade Turnover Exceeds US$51 Billion in First Eight Months of 2025
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In January–August 2025, Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover (FTT) reached US$51.4 billion, increasing by US$8.49 billion, or 19.8%, compared to the same period in 2024, according to the National Statistics Committee.
Exports totaled US$22.98 billion (up 31.3% year-on-year), while imports stood at US$28.45 billion (up 11.8%). As a result, the trade deficit amounted to US$5.47 billion.
Uzbekistan currently trades with 200 countries worldwide. The largest FTT volumes were recorded with China (18.9%), Russia (16.1%), Kazakhstan (5.9%), Türkiye (3.7%), and the Republic of Korea (2.2%).
Goods accounted for 75.2% of total exports, including manufactured goods (11.1%), food and live animals (7.8%), chemicals (5.9%), and mineral fuels, lubricants, and related materials (4.4%).
Key export partners in January–August 2025 were Russia (12.5%), China (5.4%), Kazakhstan (4.0%), Afghanistan (3.8%), Türkiye (3.2%), France (2.7%), the UAE (2.1%), and Kyrgyzstan (1.6%).
During the period, Uzbekistan exported 1.46 million tons of fruits and vegetables, up 7.3% (or 99.8 thousand tons) year-on-year. The export value reached US$1.27 billion, a 37.3% increase, accounting for 5.5% of total exports.
Textile exports amounted to US$1.67 billion (7.3% of total exports), down 17.0% from the same period in 2024. Finished textile products made up 50% of this category, while yarn accounted for 30%.
Export of services reached US$5.71 billion, or 24.8% of total exports, growing by 28.6% compared to January–August 2024. The main contributors were travel (tourism) (53.6%), transport (32.0%), telecommunications, computer and information services (7.9%), and other business services (2.6%).
Imports totaled US$28.45 billion, with machinery and transport equipment accounting for 33.8%, manufactured goods (16.1%), and chemicals (12.6%). Goods imports reached US$25.53 billion, while services imports stood at US$2.92 billion.
Overall, Uzbekistan imported goods and services from 170 countries during the reporting period. Over two-thirds of imports came from China (29.7%), Russia (19.1%), Kazakhstan (7.4%), Türkiye (4.1%), the Republic of Korea (3.9%), Germany (2.7%), and India (2.6%).
Services imports reached US$2.92 billion, or 10.3% of total imports, up 28.6% year-on-year. The main categories were travel (56.8%), transport (18.0%), telecommunications, computer and information services (9.7%), and other business services (5.4%).
