Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry Denies Reports on Transfer of 57 Helicopters to Afghanistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The press service of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has denied reports claiming that 57 helicopters would be handed over to the current authorities in Afghanistan. Earlier, such information was published by Kabul Times.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Akhror Burkhanov told the media that this information does not correspond to reality.
Kabul Times, citing Taliban representative Zabihullah Mujahid, alleged that Tashkent was preparing to transfer the aircraft to Kabul in the near future.
It should be recalled that three years ago, 46 aircraft, including transport helicopters and attack aircraft, were brought to Uzbekistan by Afghan military personnel following the Taliban’s rise to power. Earlier this year, Uzbekistan handed over seven aircraft to the United States.
