Uzbekistan’s First Ambassador Presents Credentials to the President of Nepal
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Nepal, with residence in New Delhi, Sardor Rustambayev, has presented his credentials to President of Nepal Ramchandra Paudel, according to the Dunyo News Agency.
The Head of State of Nepal expressed deep appreciation for the first-ever appointment of an Uzbek ambassador to his country and emphasized Kathmandu’s interest in developing comprehensive and mutually beneficial relations with Tashkent.
During the meeting, the sides discussed a broad range of issues on the bilateral agenda, with particular attention given to prospects for expanding trade and economic cooperation. The Nepali side noted the significant potential for interaction in the fields of hydropower, tourism, and education, and expressed readiness to implement joint projects.
President Ramchandra Paudel also underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation within international organizations, pointing to a mutual interest in working together on pressing global issues, including climate change and the ecology of mountainous regions.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the President of Nepal reaffirmed his commitment to a course toward long-term friendly partnership with Uzbekistan and expressed readiness to support all initiatives aimed at further deepening bilateral cooperation.
Diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Nepal were established on 26 January 2018. Ambassador Sardor Rustambayev began his work in New Delhi in January 2024. Previously, he headed Uzbekistan’s diplomatic missions in France and Portugal.
Sardor Rustambayev is 45 years old. He is a graduate of the University of Birmingham (United Kingdom), Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, the School of Oriental and African Studies of the University of London, and the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Uzbekistan. He holds a Candidate of Political Sciences degree.
He has been working in the system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan since 2000, holding various positions in the central apparatus, from attaché to head of department. He has served at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the United Kingdom and at the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in Beijing. From 2018 to 2023, he headed the Embassy of Uzbekistan in France.
