Uzbekistan’s Electricity Production Rises 3.8% in 2025, Driven by Small Producers

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan's total electricity generation increased by 3.78% during the first ten months of 2025, but the growth was driven entirely by small energy producers, according to the National Statistics Committee.

Uzbek enterprises generated 69.23 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity between January and October 2025, up from 66.71 billion kWh during the same period in 2024, the committee reported.

However, the structure of production shifted significantly. Output from large enterprises declined by 15.2% to 50.02 billion kWh, down from 59.00 billion kWh a year earlier. Simultaneously, small enterprises demonstrated rapid growth, increasing their electricity production almost 2.5 times to 19.21 billion kWh, compared to 7.71 billion kWh in the corresponding period of 2024.

The committee also noted a parallel decline in thermal energy production by large enterprises. Between January and October 2025, they generated 15.72 thousand gigacalories (Gcal) of thermal energy, an 11.1% decrease from the 17.68 thousand Gcal produced during the same period last year.
