The event was organized by the Ministry of Economy of Uzbekistan and the Commission of the European Union.
Representatives of international organizations, international financial institutions, ministries and departments of Uzbekistan, as well as companies of the country participated in the event.
It was underlined that in the result of reforms, the gross domestic product of Uzbekistan has been growing by over 8% in last six years. The GDP rose by 3.8 times in 2000-2013, and GDP per capita – 3.2 times. According to the assessment of international financial institutions, Uzbekistan will record high economic growth in near future.
Taking into account high rates of industrial development, it is forecasted that demands of Uzbekistan for electricity will grow almost twice by 2030 compared to this year and reach over 105 billion KWH.
In this connection, it is important for Uzbekistan to ensure sustainability of energy system, introduce energy saving technologies and energy efficiency.
It is worth to mention that Uzbekistan is implementing several projects on construction of new generating capacities and modernization of existing ones.
At the end of the meeting, the participants discussed current work on developing energy system and renewable energy in Uzbekistan. It was stated that Uzbekistan is adopting measures on rationaluse of natural resources to preserve them to future generations.
